The Heartache Of Competition

Here we are again, finally some time to sit down and write for a few minutes. As far as traveling with the team goes, we actually do not have that much free time, and the free time we do have is often spent studying or actually taking exams. This trip has been filled with time spent on the airport, in the air or on a bus, with the occasional pleasure of soccer. However, we lost the first game on this merry trip, leaving us utterly exposed as far as the league goes. With two games left we are in need of two wins in order to make it to the play-off. Pressure is on, but honestly there is no doubt in my mind that we can and will pull it off.

To completely change the subject as to my little side hobby of filming, the awards for the AT&T commercial I filmed over the summer just got assigned. Sad to say that I lost, but credit must go to the other competitors as they entry’s simply were better. I do feel as if I have taken steps forward in the quality of my submissions, and soon I do hope to actual win some money. Finishing up school will also help,  not having worry about homework and exams will definitely allow for some creative juice to flow. Now I know some of you might say that work will take all my time as soon as I graduate, well to you all I say that I am excellent at getting my work done on time. Also, the briefs and competitions that Zooppa and MoFilm among others are becoming more and more interesting as well as challenging, and they really allow us “film makers” to play around with our creativity. The constant updates and variety among competitions leaves something for all to embark upon.

Also, as far as creating video and script goes, today one of our soccer alums joined us for team dinner. I had the opportunity to chat with him for a few minutes after, and as it turns out he his living the film industry life in New York. He took a career turn that I admire, I alway felt as if hand on stuff is the best way to actually learn and become skilled at something. Well anyhow, instead of heading off to film school and as it is here accumulate debt, he had the opportunity to go straight into work. Utterly inexperienced, but with a interest of learning as quick as possible. Best way to success, and now he is working on full features and produces his own work in collaborations with others.Honestly, I cannot wait to see his work. I am not talking Hunger Games or James Bond, but more the independent side the industry which if you ask me is the heart and soul of the art and passion behind creating film. I do hope to create a few of my own pieces in the same manner in the future. In order to fulfill that dream I do hope that I will get the opportunity to work a crew in NYC at some point  in order to pick up a thing or two.

So cheers to pressure above measure and to unexpected contacts with the same passion as ourselves, and enjoy the this spooky weekend we all call Halloween.

F.O.B

Good evening everyone, I hope you are all having a good weekend. I do not really know where to start, there is kind of a lot that has happened the last 24 hours here in Thunder Bay.

First and foremost we had our press conference yesterday, which turned out to be a piece of cake. Not a big deal at all for most of out players, there was about 20 people there and they filmed the whole thing. However, for us players it was just to get announced as a part of the team and smile for a couple of pictures. There was even food there, which all of us enjoyed very much. The whole event was on TV here in Thunder Bay and the local news paper covered it as well.

Later that night I watched the movie Drive with Ryan Gosling, if you have not seen it you need to see it. It is that good, kind of strange and surprising but just amazing. See it!

For those who does not follow soccer, today was the day the greatest team in the world this year would be determined. The game between Bayern Munich and Chelsea, it was such a spectacular game. I still cannot believe the result after what I saw. Going into the game I was cheering for Bayern, and everything was going well, Bayern out played Chelsea and even got 1-0 in the 83 minute. However, Chelsea showed strong character and got back into the game. I really thought Bayern were going to win it when they got a penalty in over time, but to my surprise my favorite player Arjen Robben Missed it. It went to penalties and Chelsea won. Congratulations to them, however I believe that it will have a sad effect on Tottenham who now will not play in the Champions League next year, and therefore probably will lose their two key players Modric and Bale. Disappointment!!!

However, on the complete different level of soccer here in Thunder Bay we also played a game today. Just a exhibition game os nothing to fancy. We won with, 3-1, did not play to well but it was a solid result. I feel like we will have a really good team as soon as we get used to playing with each other. I was happy to see my team mate from school Paul Dillon score our second goal. My own performance was nothing special, I got a charlie horse (knee on my quad) after 5 minutes, and after that I could not really run. Made my day a little bit harder, but still a solid performance. I hope I will perform better tomorrow, we are playing the same team and if my quad feels better I am sure I will get a point in the game.

Now it is time for some solid sleep!

Where Are You Time And Sense?

Just feeling for a night post. The thing as I have completely forgot how to enjoy sleeping, I am rocking 3-6 hours a night and I do not eve take naps during the day. What is so sick about that is that I still do not find enough time to all that I need to and want to. I know it sounds silly to say but I honestly do not find the time. Soccer is like 3-5 hours a day, that includes extra practice and rehab. School which is like 3-4 hours, hanging out with friends and Caroline, takes time. The problem is that I do not even know what I do, I have no clue where all my hours go, such a strange feeling. I wish I could blog more and edit more of my movies, I guess this is the time in my life where I will learn to do what is most important to me or develop the valuable skill of multi tasking! Hoping for the last one.

What have I done the last couple of days, I went to the movies yesterday, Titanic 3-D. Titanic is an amazing movie no matter what, but 3-D did not make it better in any sense. Feels like they released it to make more money, and I am certain that it will work. That is just how the world works, and I am not complaining because Titanic will always be Titanic. What was truly awesome was the seats, most have been the biggest movie seats in a movie theatre ever. They were made for sitting two and two as well, big holders for candy and all that good stuff on the outside and then nothing in-between, perfect for those who like to cuddle in the dark.

However, when I got back from the theatre like 12.20 ish I saw a couple of emails from people in my class, our scripts were due today, I had no clue. Took the decision of hoping for my teachers mercy and understanding, 20% of the grade after all, luckily enough he was kind and understanding enough to give me an extension until next week. I am really exited about writing the script, it is guided in a few ways, I have to include a suitcase, a funeral, and it has to be a fairytale. I think I will be able to come up with something that will work.

A lot of shit to do this weekend with soccer, movie shootings and school, but you know smile and do it!

Sleep tight!

Productive?

Hello everybody, it is true it is not a myth I have actually been productive today.

Believe me I am just as surprised as you, started of with meeting my advisor and learnt that some people are bad at letting things be. But you know what they say, you learn something new everyday. Later on in my one class of the day we watched a movie, you have to love the college of communication. The movie was quit interesting actually, all about the history of homosexuality in Hollywood films. A movie that probably would upset some people at the school, but I am glad we watched it.

Did all my rehab exercises, got to work on my weak core. Getting stronger (not) still no eight pack, very sad.

The rest of the day was spent in the library with Paulina and Keith, writing papers and reading for my quiz tomorrow. Should be interesting since I barely understood the reading. Percy Walker, you are not a good writer, I am sorry but it cannot be denied.

I also emailed my coach for the summer up in Canada, I brought up the question about one of my friends in Sweden who has hopes of coming and playing with us this summer. Hopefully everything will work out, I believe!

I Set Fire To The Rain

Just woke up after a great nights sleep, as usual my ears were filled with earplugs due to my snoring room-mates. I have to admit though, it is pretty sweet to sleep with them, only problem is that I barely hear my alarm in the morning. But to be late is not really a problem, it is more of a luxury I would say. Wish I lived a life where I could not over sleep, no exact time to be anywhere just chilling!

What is there to do today? Not too much actually, I have an audition for a short movie in about an hour so I need to get ready for that. I had to choose between two characters to play, and I went for the mediterranean looking one, feels like that is how I look. I have not learnt the script yet though, so I really should take a look at that but will see what happens. Other than that I really need to study for my upcoming exams and scripts that are due. Their might be sometime in their to work out aswell, might be needed because I had chips for the first time in years, I am more of a candy person so chips is a rare occasion.

Alejandro is in the room right now, he wants to play a little bit of NHL, but I told him that I need to hear about his weekend first, and here is that story.

Friday night was beer olympic night, he and his team against another team, so much determination to win. The events that were played, Flip cup, Das Boot, and Beer Pong. Sadly Thumper never got played, to bad because that is Alejandros best event he is real skillful. Sadest story ever though is that they lost, they lost greatly, or well not with big numbers but still a very sad night. They did not care to much about it and continued to party all night long. Back in Sweden we got kebab house after a night like that, but here they got Qudoba, a mexican burritos place. Pretty good food actually, I been there a couple of times.

Saturday night, after a whole day of recovering from friday it was time to go again, a few games to get it all started, cocaine, beer pong, and finally Alejandro got to play Thumper. Just as successful as usual, however the place they were at was so much fun that they never left for the party. When something already is awesome, there is no reason to change it up. The night ended quit disappointing though, after a walk to “the hood” to get some McDonald’s, the sad relasation that it is closed struck him. A very unnecessary walk into an area that is supposed to be dangerous, I personally believe that it is bullshit though. It is not any danger, or at least not more than a walk on the beach.

Anyways now i am gona kick Alejandros ass in some NHL, untill later world!
